Will you need to come in my home?

It is important to our veterinarian that you and your pet are comfortable during your appointment. We are happy to come in to your home and examine your pet, and we also offer our mobile unit as an optional place for your appointment. We are happy to do what is best for you and your pet!

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. I want to be your partner in caring for your pet. We will want to discuss your best friend's lifestyle and needs and work together to create a care plan.

Are your mobile veterinary services available outside of the state of Oregon?

Unfortunately state law prohibits our veterinarian from providing pet care in any state other than Oregon.

Will I be able to get my prescriptions and pet food from Blue Door Veterinary Services?

Yes, many medicines will be available on the truck and long term prescriptions and specialty foods will be delivered to your door by our online partners.

Will you actually come to my house?

Our goal is to be convenient to you. In most cases, I will park in front of your home or very nearby.

However, as Portland has many crowded streets and limited parking, we may ask you to help us identify a convenient parking option.

Is payment required the day of the visit?

Yes. You may use any major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express), check or cash. A Care Credit Card or pet insurance also are welcome. We recommend Trupanion.

Will you be available to see my pet if she needs help right away?

Call me at (503) 819-8040 and i will see you and your pet at the earliest time possible. I may be available to see you the same day you call. In some instances, however, we may need to refer you to another facility to treat your pet more quickly. Blue Door Veterinary Services does not offer after-hours emergency services.

Why should I choose a mobile vet?

Have you ever noticed your pet shaking, shedding excessively, or panting when you sit in a veterinarian’s waiting or exam room? These are all signs of stress. Blue Door Veterinary Services will see your furry friend in the place that is most familiar: their home and neighborhood. The mobile truck is specially designed for nearly every medical need from immunizations, to dental cleanings and surgery.

It's also meant to be a convenience for you. You can relax under the awning with your morning coffee or continue with your own work around the house while your pet is examined by Dr. Dawson. If you have several pets, they can be scheduled together, saving you the hassle of transporting your family.

Will I still need to visit a veterinary office for some of my pet's regular care?

Unless your pet needs a specialty referral or ICU care, Blue Door Veterinary Services can be your full service partner.
